Our Classic and Light Up Your Life range candles are made from eco-friendly and all natural soy wax. Soy wax is a vegetable made from the oil of soybeans. Our soy candles are completely renewable, environmentally friendly and sustainable. They are non-toxic, clean burning and will burn 30-50% longer than a paraffin wax candle.
Due to our candles being made from soy wax, you may see tiny white speckles on the surface of them, this is called frosting and is a natural characteristic of soy wax. This is not a flaw and will in no way affect the quality or the burn of the candle. Frosting is strictly unique to pure soy candles, and often times it is called the ‘bloom’. It is a way that a customer can tell if their candle is really made with 100%, all natural soy wax. Frosting can be stopped by including additives to the candle, but we pride ourselves in creating 100% natural soy wax candles, therefore we do not use additives, and consider frosting to be apart of the beauty of soy candles.
Our Modern and Crystal range candles are made from crystal wax. The crystal wax displays a beautiful crystal pattern on the surface of candle. Our crystal wax is made from a blend of tropical plant oils that are renewable and environmentally friendly.
We use two different types of wicks for our candles, wood wicks and Heinz Verhaegh wicks.
Our wood wicks are American softwood and come from a renewable eco-friendly environment. The wood is not bleached or treated with any harsh chemicals and a natural oil is used to assist with candle burning. Wood wicks produce an enchanting ‘crackle’ sound as they burn.
Our Heinz Verhaegh wicks are pure cotton with a paper braid, which are zinc and lead free.
We use quality fragrance oils that give off a beautiful and lasting scent.
Always burn candles within sight. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets. If using a candle-holder, use one that is specifically designed for candle use. Be sure the candle-holder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times. Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents. Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Place burning candles at least three inches apart from one another. Never extinguish candles with water. The water can cause the hot wax to splatter and may cause a glass container to break. Be very careful if using candles during a power outage. Extinguish a candle if it repeatedly smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. If the candle isn’t burning properly, allow the candle to cool, trim the wick, then check for drafts before relighting.
For container candles, when burning for the first time ensure that you burn the candle until the wax pool reaches the edge of the glass. By burning the candle long enough for the entire wax pool to cover the top of the candle, this will prevent the candle from tunneling.
For pillar candles, for best results you should burn the candles for about 3 hours, or until the wax pool extends to within 0.7 – 1cm of the sides of the candle edge.
Always ensure that your wick is trimmed to 5mm each time before you relight your candle.
